Advan RS on the new EVO X

Publishsed by Dan on January 23rd, 2008 | Posted in Project Cars | No Comments »

Believe us when we say this will not be the last set of wheels on our EVO X! But for now, we pulled from our huge Volk and Advan inventory these 18×9 Advan RS in Gunmetal. With a 29mm offset, the multispoke wheels give the EVO X red a good contrast. Thanks to Toyo Tires, we have the all new Toyo R1R tires in a 255/35/18. These are a pretty aggressive street tire and we look forward to running them down! We also took some Red Lug Nuts from the shelf for that full look. The stock wheels and tires weighed about 49lbs where these Advan and Toyo combo weighed in at 44lbs.

We also tested fitted our 18×8.5 Agency Power wheels which fit perfect and test fitted a stock EVO IX MR wheel in 17×8 which was a NO GO.

I think a nice set of 19×10 need to come next with some suspension! Or do we have some suspension already????

Hyperboost Valves for Porsche, Audi, and VW at Vivid Racing

Publishsed by Dan on January 23rd, 2008 | Posted in Product Info | No Comments »

Vivid Racing now carries the Hyperboost Diverter Valves for the Audi, VW, and Porsche turbocharged vehicles. Hyperboost has designed these unique piston and spring valve to help keep boost pressure consistant. Where the stock diverter valve leaks boost causing a loss in power, these valves hold the pressure strong all the way to redline. As tested in one of our customers Porsche 996TT, the valves kept a consistant boost pressure at 1.1 bar. Unlike the previous diverter valves, these actually increase horsepower because of the ability to hold pressure.

The valves are priced well and guaranteed to work for your Turbo application!

Valves are sold individually and can be seen here at our site -

Huge Horsepower Gains on the EVO X

Publishsed by Dan on January 22nd, 2008 | Posted in Project Cars | No Comments »

We finished the prototype components for the EVO X intake system. This includes the suction pipe to the turbo and short ram intake kit with heat shield that connects to the factory air scoop.

The car did really well actually with the complete intake kit and suction pipe. The car by nature from the factory ran quite rich. With the addition of the intake components, it leaned the car out to a safe tunable AFR which gave it a ton of power. The boost was consistant but heavily drops off. We definitely need to get a boost controller and/or have some ECU tuning done. We suspect that with the intake and a good turbo back exhaust (coming soon) the car will pick up about 40HP easily.

Final testing will be done on the intake kit which will be sold as just the short ram or just the suction pipe. You will be able to get it at a combination as well. We hope to start production by Monday and have product shippable within 2 weeks.

Here is the dyno sheet from the run. Stay tuned!
