Project 997TT Adds New MAShaw GT2 Wing and TechArt Side Skirts

Publishsed by Dan on September 26th, 2008 | Posted in Project Cars | No Comments »

Vivid Racing’s Project 997TT is undergoing some new changes to keep it looking fresh.  While the car has been kept on the download during our prototyping of the new induction system, we thought we would post up some sneak pics of the new MAShaw GT2 rear wing and TechArt side skirts being installed.  The MAShaw GT2 rear wing is a COMPLETE replica of the OEM 997GT2 wing.  MAShaw includes a new wiring harness and the factory brake light fits just like stock.  There is NO modifications for the underside needed.  The fan bolts in place and the scoops connect to the stock airbox inlets.  We hope to have everything set for some nice pictures Monday morning.  Once we get our new induction kit released, stay tuned for our 800HP kit in progress :)

Check out all the Project 997TT project pictures here.

We have a complete Porsche TechArt Aerokit Catalog with detailed pictures here.

One of our customers from Illinois sent us a great side shot of his Porsche 997 C2s Cabriolet featuring the HRE P43 monoblock wheels.  The 20×9 and 20×11 inch wheels have a brushed finish and are wrapped with Michelin PS2 tires.  The tires are a 245/30/20 and a 295/25/20 size.  The customer also has some of the new Bilstein PSS10 Damptronic coilovers installed.  Great looking ride!

The creation of a show stopping, pavement pounding vehicle requires great care, attention to detail and that certain touch of style. Like a special meal, it’s a delicate recipe that if altered or unbalanced, can leave a sour taste in anyone’s mouth. Give the tools of the trade to that one proper chef though, who has just that proper touch and a true masterpiece has been created.

No, this isn’t a blog about Vivid Racing’s expansion into the world of the culinary arts, this post is about one of our customer’s by the name of Wes Banasan. I was contacted by Wes back in June to inquire for certain ‘parts’ that will remain unmentioned until further notice.  Wes is a member of famed Team Emotion.  If you’re into this scene, and haven’t heard or seen their presence, yes WEST COASTERS, THIS MEANS YOU TOO. It’s seriously time to wake up. They’ve been here, and aren’t leaving any time soon.

Wes’s 350Z is the real deal .His car can be seen on the cover of this current month’s import tuner.  Sporting some of Japan’s finest, his 350Z is netting over 4xx ponies with the use of Power Enterprise’s twin turbo kit.  Massive stopping power is provided by Project Mu’s front and rear big brake kits. He’s also sporting, the now ultra-rare Do-Luck widebody kit. There is much much more to this car, so feast your eyes. This car is definitely a dream crusher. Wes has a very nice list of things to come,  to STAY TUNED WITH VIVID RACING!

For any questions regarding 350Z parts or inquiries, please feel free to contact me, tony@vividracing.com.

PS - Thanks again for your business Wes.

UrbanRacer.com TechLab Features VR EVO X Tuning Session

Publishsed by Dan on September 23rd, 2008 | Posted in Random World | No Comments »

Evan Griffey, freelance writer recently did a piece on the Urbanracer.com website about Vivid Racing’s EVO X and the tuning behind it.  Vivid Racing’s long time tuner, Mitch Mckee gave important information on what it takes to tune this beast with the Agency Power GT35R Twin Scroll Turbo Kit.

“The GT35-R is a large frame turbo for a stock 2.0-liter engine,: says Mitch, “so to help try and utilize power faster we opted to go with the twin scroll setup. The twin scroll helps to build boost faster by splitting the turbine housing to optimize exhaust pulses to the turbo more efficiently, as a four cylinder only has one exhaust pulse every 180 degrees. This is one of the perks of the twin scroll on large frame turbo’s is a quick spool time. This turbo achieves full boost by about 47-4800 rpm, which for a 35R is fantastic!”

The Agency Power turbo kit on our EVO X requires many different components including the ECU tuning to maximize its potential.   As a kit, this is the only one on the market which is currently making over 650 all wheel horsepower on the EVO X.  With the combination of fuel components, upgraded intercooler, and the ECU tuning, Vivid Racing has been able to establish itself as a front runner in the EVO X performance market.

“Some of the big hurdles that we had to tackle were a very limited engine management solution for a car that is so new. We used the ECUtek software and it worked wonderfully but there were some problems from the get go. Fuel was the first big hurdle as from the factory anything over 26 we would max out the system on the stock pump. So to tackle this issue we used a Walbro pump and had to modify the housing to make it fit. Once we had a good fuel pump solution we also had to find injectors that would flow enough to handle the GT35-R, which was our upgrade ‘goal’ turbo. Being how the car was only built this year we did not have a whole lot of options so we elected to send out the stock injectors and had them modified to turn them into 800cc units.”

Dave Mirra’s New 09 STI and For Sale 07 STI by VR

Publishsed by Dan on September 21st, 2008 | Posted in Random World | No Comments »

XGames legend, BMX legend, and soon to be Rally Car Driver legend, Dave Mirra backs Vivid Racing.  Last year Dave bought the Vivid Racing 2007 Subaru STI, putting less than 1000 miles on it, it is up for sale.  Why might you ask?  Because of this awesome 2009 Subaru STI, murdered out, and gear up by Vivid Racing and Agency Power.  Vivid Racing lowered Dave’s STI with some Agency Power lowering springs.  We then dressed his engine up with an Agency Power alternator cover in wrinkle red, added an Agency Power adjustable blow off valve, then mounted up an Agency Power shorty antenna.

Rumor has it that Dave will be racing one of these new body styles in this years USA Rally competitions for Monster and Subaru.
