991 Turbo Wheel Options

991 Turbo wheel options for your Porsche are available in many different styles and colors from us at Vivid Racing.  You can even use our Wheel App to see what wheels would like on your own car.  The Porsche 991 Turbo comes with 20 inch wheels standard.  The Turbo has 5×130 bolt pattern wheels where the Turbo S has the centerlock style.  For those that upgraded to the centerlock style, there is no difference in configuring your wheels whether you have a Turbo or Turbo S.  There are 2 types of wheels available and then they get more intricate from there.  First are cast wheels.  These are always 1 piece and generally far less expensive than a forged wheel.  They are heavier and not as customizeable as forged.  We generally stay away from a cast wheel because of function.  The main type of wheel that a Porsche 991 Turbo customer will get is a forged wheel.  Forged aluminum wheels come in either 1 piece or 3 piece.  3 piece are the wheels that feature a deep lip or strong concavity.  A 3 piece wheel can be heavily customized with the color of the forged center, the barrels, and even the rivets.  Some 3 piece wheels can be lightweight when they do a competition upgrade shaving pockets into the spokes and using titanium hardware.  Typically the lightest wheels will be a 1 piece forged.  These wheels also known as Monoblock are created from a 1 piece forging that is then CNC machined to the desired design.  Usually a 1 piece wheel is done in 1 color and can have some concaveness to it.  Concavity depends on the offset of the wheel which is how far away from the rotor hub the wheel sits.  The more aggressive an offset, the more flush with the fenders the wheel is.

Options for the 991 Turbo are to stay with the 20 inch size or go with a 21 inch size.  The factory wheel is a 20×8.5 and 20×11 running 245/35/20 and 305/30/20 Pirelli Tires.  This is a popular wheel size to stay with a 1 piece forged which is very strong and lightweight.  Typical 20 inch 1 piece forged wheels are about 21lbs front and 24lbs rear.  You can also upgrade your wheels to 21 inch.  The usual size for this upgrade is a 21×9 and 21×12.  You can even go to a 21×13.  This is more easily done with a 3 piece forged wheel.  Tire selection for a 21 is going to be a 255/30/21 and a 325/25/21 or even a 345/25/21.

Some of the top companies that do lightweight wheels for the Porsche 991 Turbo are: HRE Wheels, Niche Wheels, Vorsteiner Wheels, ADV1 Wheels, Volk Racing Wheels.  There are many companies that offer 1 piece forged wheels, however it is best to choose a brand that you are comfortable with their delivery, customer support, and warranty.  Having owned and supported many customers Porsche 911 Turbo cars, we can definitely direct you in the right manner.
