Nissan R33 GT-R with New Goodies from Vivid Racing

These iconic cars from Nissan never get old to see. Whether its the R32, R33, or R34, the right hand drive Japanese sports car has made its mark in history. With quite a few of these showing up in the USA and Canada, you could only expect die hard enthusiasts to get their hands on them. This customer’s Nissan R33 needed 2 things and he came to Vivid Racing for the hook up. First we equipped him with a Carbonetic Triple Disk Clutch System. The triple carbon disk is just what is needed on the RB26DETT to hold that 1000 horsepower mark. Next, it was time to get some new styling, so he added a Seibon “ju-style” carbon fiber hood. Because Every Mazda RX7 Needs a Big Block LS1 Engine

This customer of ours decided to pick up some new shoes for his car. Little did we know until he sent pictures that this was a serious machine. The Mazda RX7 FD is thought of one of the great sports cars of all time. Its body lines and handling were well beyond its date. With a factory twin turbocharged rotary motor, this sports coupe was easy to modify and could gain a whole lot of power. However if the Rotary is not your friend and you dont feel like overheating, there is the old saying, “there is no replacement for displacement.” And in fact, that is what we have here. This customer took his RX7 and swapped a LS1 engine in it. Tons of torque, tons of horsepower, and parts for days.

Vivid Racing equipped this machine with a set of Advan RS Wheels in gunmetal. The front is a 18×9 +35mm and the rear is a 18×10 +15mm. Of course in the 5×114.3 bolt pattern for the Mazda. Keeping or trying to keep traction is a set of Hankook Ventus V12 tires with a 285/30/18 in front and a 295/30/18 in the rear.

Its like they are unstoppable! Dropping a new aero package every week at times. We keep saying how we have used Vorsteiner and blah blah blah, but the fact is it is amazing quality and fitment. All made in the USA (California) done via a pre-preg process to give a beautiful clear coat finish. Vorsteiner probably makes some of the most accurate fitting aftermarket body kit parts. Our good friends, extreme athletes, and motorheads, Bucky Lasek and Dave Mirra, are at big time. As 2 of the most decorated action sports athletes in their own disciplines, they are also big time car guys taking their passions to the professional level. Dave has been driving for the Subaru team for a couple years. But now Vert Skater Bucky is taking his shot as part of the 3 Amigos on the new Puma/Subaru rally team. So no more Vans or DC, its all about these crazy Subaru STI’s, Puma shoes, and rally racing!

Work Wheels Releases New Wheel – Durandal DD5.2

Work Wheels is one of Japan’s premiere wheel manufacture for the Import and European vehicle marquees. As one of the top dealers for the USA, Vivid Racing is the source to get Work Wheels. They have just released this brand new wheel in a series dubbed the “Durandal”. The first model in the series is the Durandal DD5.2, which is eye catching with its bladed split spoke design. Due to the intricate nature of the center disk, Work Wheels is able to customize to a fine degree while showcasing the quality of it’s machining work. Below are some more pictures and details on the Durandal DD5.2 wheel.

Due to its two piece construction, you can customize offsets within 1mm increments, allowing for fine tuning of wheel fitment. Here are the available wheel widths by diameter:

This is a great little video showing off this Subaru Impreza 2.5RS which we hooked up with some wheels. The symbolic Subaru rally car features a set of the Work Emotion XD9 wheels. The 17×8.5 at all 4 corners have a +25mm offset in 5×100 to give it an aggressive look. If your not sure on Subaru fitment, typical offset is around 48mm so this is aggressive! Japan Car Life, A Weekend in Tokyo

A good friend of ours took a trip to Japan this past week to check out the car world while snapping pics and video for some media. But before all those drop, he has leaked some pictures to us to share with all the Vivid Racing fans (View All Here). Having spent 2 1/2 weeks in Tokyo about 10 years ago, I can definitely understand his sensations. As the first place I ever traveled outside the USA, myself, VR partner Rob, and another friend stomped around Tokyo looking for what we saw in the magazines. Spending more time drinking beer from vending machines, we really never reached the Japanese car culture experience. Thankfully, our friend who also had his first international travel experience in Japan, has brought us back these insane photos. With meets and gatherings only to be described as something from the Fast and Furious movies, this is pretty damn incredible. AEM Releases Wideband AFR and Boost Gauge in One!

The Wideband FAILSAFE Gauge is a Universal Exhaust Gas Oxygen (UEGO—“you-way-go”) controller with an internal boost sensor, an internal data logger and a full color Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) display. It includes technology to activate a failsafe strategy in the event AFR falls outside of a user-defined operating window. If the AFR falls outside of the set operating window, the Wideband FAILSAFE Gauge triggers a user defined output function that can save an engine from catastrophic damage.

This product is a must have for all tuned performance engines, either forced induction or naturally aspirated, fuel injected or carbureted. Any high performance vehicle owners who want a highly accurate AFR tuning tool with logging and a protection strategy that can save an engine from catastrophic failure will want this FAILSAFE device.

WHAT IT INCLUDES
The 52mm (2-1/16”) Wideband FAILSAFE Gauge includes a Bosch 4.2LSU AFR wideband sensor for monitoring and feedback of AFR and an on-board boost sensor to read vacuum or boost pressures up to 30 PSIG. Both boost and AFR can be displayed in real time on the gauge’s face using the full color OLED screen and 24 three-color sweeping LEDs. The gauge includes a low side output for triggering a failsafe strategy in the event AFR falls outside of the operating window (see example strategies, below), and an RPM input to log RPM for tuning purposes.

WHAT IT DOES
After the engine is tuned and a safe operating window of AFR is established, the Wideband FAILSAFE Gauge continually monitors AFR and boost or vacuum to make sure that AFR does not fall out of the defined operating window at a given boost or vacuum level. If the Wideband Failsafe detects an out of range AFR reading, the gauge triggers a low side output (ground signal with a 1.5 amp draw max) that can save your engine from catastrophic damage (see example strategies, below).

Use the gauge’s intuitive software to configure the low side output, create a user-adjustable time delay strategy to prevent false alarms, and customize the gauge lighting to flash and alert the driver if an alarm is triggered.

The system contains an on-board data logger for logging over three hours of data recording (20 Hz per parameter) of AFR, RPM, boost, alarm, and others. Data logs can be downloaded for viewing in the new AEMdata software.

Additionally, the Wideband FAILSAFE Gauge is an ideal engine tuning tool. The highly accurate Bosch AFR wideband sensor is maintenance free and never requires free-air calibration, enabling you to fine tune AFR from an AEM programmable engine management system, any other programmable EMS or piggyback programmer. For carbureted applications, it can tell you when it’s time to swap carb(s), change jets or simply modify fuel pressure.

EXAMPLE ENGINE PROTECTION STRATEGIES
NATURALLY ASPIRATED, TURBOCHARGED OR SUPERCHARGED WITH STAND ALONE EMS OR PIGGYBACK CONTROLLER: Can use the low side output to cut revs, retard timing, trigger a separate fuel or ignition map and activate an ancillary warning light. Users with turbos can also trigger the device to cut boost (may require separate solenoid). The aforementioned strategies are provided as an example. Available failsafe strategies will ultimately be dependent on the capability of the EMS or piggyback engine controller.

EASY TO SET UP!
Once installed, users connect to the gauge via a USB port and use the supplied software to log an engine’s safe AFR operating range, set minimum and maximum AFR ranges, alarm mode, time delay strategy, failsafe strategy and gauge display configuration.

Users with an AEMnet-equipped (CAN bus) device can daisy chain the Wideband FAILSAFE gauge using the AEMnet connection (adapter sold separately). Non AEMnet devices can communicate with the device using the CAN 2.0B spec protocol. An analog output for O2 feedback is provided for users without AEMnet or CAN-equipped devices to hard wire the gauge for O2 feedback or logging in a stand-alone logger.

WHY USE A WIDEBAND AIR/FUEL CONTROLLER?
Accurate AFR data is critical when tuning an engine. Running rich (very low air/fuel ratio, excessive fuel) can cause a loss in power and fuel economy, while running too lean (very high air/fuel ratio, not enough fuel) may result in serious engine damage. Using a wideband air/fuel controller during the tuning process allows you to monitor AFR and adjust tuning parameters to optimize them for maximum power and efficiency.

Lamborghini Gallardo Showing Off Special 5.2 Spoke Style Wheels

We just hooked up this customer of ours Lamborghini Gallardo with a special 5.2 spoke style wheel through Agency Power‘s custom wheel division. Working direct with the wheel manufacture, we offer the unique styling of wheels you have come to love on the internet at amazing prices. Simply contact us and say, “I want this wheel!” Our incredible customer service and specialty prices is a no brainer… This set of wheels was done in a Titanium Brushed Finished to give the wheel a dark almost deep look to it. The front is a 20×8.5 and the rear is a 20×11 done to be nice and flush with the fender. The wheels are logo clean and have been drilled for the OEM center caps. Michelin Pilot Sport N Spec tires have been fitted for those high speed runs. A 245/30/20 in front and a 315/25/20 tire in the rear.

In addition to the new shoes, this Lambo was also equipped with some power parts. Fabspeed cat bypass pipes were added to give it more juice and raise the sound up a bit. A Fabspeed carbon fiber airbox was also added with the addition of BMC air filters. This intake gives the V8 better throttle response and a nicely tuned engine sound. If you have not seen a GruppeM air intake before, then you would not understand. Hyundai Genesis Gets ARK Performance Coilovers

A local customer came to the Vivid Racing Service Department in Gilbert, Arizona to get his Genesis a bit lower. As we always say, stock ride height and stock wheels have got to go on any vehicle. So with this red Hyundai turbo, we started with the ride height. As you can see from the before picture, it was ready to go offroad. Installing a set of ARK Performance coilovers we were able to give the car a lower stance and help the customer with improved handling. Hong Kong Porsche 996 Turbo with AP Wheels and KW V3s

This beautiful white Porsche 996 Turbo comes to us from a customer in Hong Kong. Very cleanly done, it features a set of the Agency Power GT2RS style wheels. The 1 piece forged monoblock wheel comes in a 19×8.5 and a 19×12. Very lightweight and strong, the fronts weigh about 21lbs and the rear about 23lbs. This particular finish is a matte black, however they are also available in brushed. The wheels are drilled for the factory center caps or include an Agency Power center cap. This car has also been lowered and handling improved with a set of KW Variant 3 Coilovers. The coilovers are hands down the BEST for a street car that likes to run hard. With seperate adjustable rebound and compression, these coilovers are also height adjustable. As featured on both our Project 997.1 Turbo and Project 997.2 Turbo S, we can definitely say these give the car the cornering ability it needs. Check out more pics of these Agency Power Wheels Here.

Subaru STI Sedan Flashy with Much Power at Hand

Our good friend Rob here in AZ got to thrash across the USA on the 2011 Bullrun rally. However after running the car hard, it was time for some updates. Already equipped with a slew of Agency Power parts, it was time to enhance his engine. Getting new forged internals with JE pistons, his 2.5L block and is now ready to take some boost from the Agency Power GT30 rotated mount turbo kit. With the Agency Power front mount intercooler, blow off valve, fuel rails, and larger 800cc injectors, a custom Cobb AccessPort tune will get this baby rolling. The all white sedan features a carbon fiber Seibon hood with a matte black wrapped roof and trunk. Out the rear is the Agency Power catback exhaust system to give that familiar boxxer engine noise. Lowered on some KW Coilovers, his new Weds Sport SA-55 wheels are looking super clean in the 19×8.5 fitment. Enjoy these simple but respectable photos!

Super Flush Turbo BMW M3 Roadster on Work Wheels

This customer fired over these photos of his fresh new shoes he got from us here at Vivid Racing. Our Work Wheels Store has some of the sickest wheel options you can get from the ultra flush, to the ultra unique. All we know is this bad boy has been Turbocharged from its original inline 6cylinder motor that was already M Powered. The BMW Roadster I feel is one of the best and most fun roadsters to drive since it came out. At the time it dominated the Porsche 986 Boxster and others similar such as the S2000 and Miata where in no comparison. To take this beautiful silver vert to a new level, he choose to go with a set of Japanese Work Meister S1R wheels. The front is a 18×8.5 +38mm with A disk and the rear is a 18×11 +19mm with a O Disk. The wheels have been finished in their BBF. What is BBF? How about Bright Buff Finish. Yes you can do your hair in them they are so shiny! Subaru Rally driver and world recognized BMX master, Dave Mirra, has gone through his host of Subaru vehicles. From owning the original VR 2007 STI, to cruising a 2009 STI hatch, Dave has gone back to the Hawkeye Style Subaru.
