For those of you who were questioning how McLaren was going to top themselves after the F1, the answers in the numbers. The 2014 McLaren might not look as different as some would have hoped, but the performance says it all. The P1 took five seconds off the F1’s zero to max speed proving that this car won’t have any problem out performing it’s counter part. Here are the other jaw-dropping numbers that P1 picked up,
- Zero to 62 mph: Under 3 seconds
- Zero to 124 mph: Under 7 seconds
- Zero to 186 mph: 17 seconds, max
- Top Speed: 218 mph (electronically limited)
McLaren didn’t stop there. The 2014 super car also got a lot of inspiration from the Formula 1 car. The V8 turbo performs on a similar level to the Formula 1. Along with the V8 McLaren employed two familiar systems. The DRS and IPAS which will not only give the P1 a tremendous power boost, but also help alleviate the drag making for a straighter race line, both of these systems can be powered on by the push of a button, conveniently placed in the sexy carbon fiber detailed steering wheel.
There will be less than 400 of these machines put into production with a fitting price tag of $1.15 million. Here’s a preview of the P1 from the 2013 Geneva International Motor Show.
