KW Suspension for New Makes and Models

Publishsed by Cole Kelly on October 29th, 2009 | Posted in Product Info | No Comments »

When looking for the blend of comfort and performance, KW Suspension is Vivid Racing’s choice for most make and models. Among their best coilovers are the KW Variant 3’s that allow the driver to create a customized suspension feel and adjust the ride height. The ease of change also allows for a street setting to be used for daily driving and then an adjustment can provide your car the stiff performance needed on the track.

New to the KW Suspension catalog is the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro Variant 3 coilover. With the Camaro being a retro styled car and encompassing new technology throughout, KW Suspension set out to improve the ride and handling of this hot selling muscle car. With the same state-of-the-art technology found in the V3 coilovers for every other make and model, KW was able to fine tune the Camaro’s handling and lower the car to improve the style.

Also added to the list of cars is the Nissan 370Z. V3 coilovers could make the otherwise stock 370Z to be ready for the track because of the separate and independent compression and rebound damping options.

Once Again Japan is Cooler. 2010 Subaru STI Spec C!

Publishsed by Dan on October 1st, 2009 | Posted in Random World | No Comments »

Subaru’s WRX STI spec C hits the streets…but only in Japan.   The spec C model is lighter and has a few engine enhancements to separate it from regular STIs. The ECU has been retuned and the turbocharger has new ball and axle bearings. Oil flow volume to the power steering system is up, lending the spec C a firmer steering feel, according to Subaru. The rear LSD has been changed to a mechanical type to enhance cornering.

Front and rear suspensions have been tweaked and Subaru says body rigidity is improved, too. Plenty of measures have been taken to reduce weight, starting with an aluminum hood. A smaller battery, laminar windows, and a flat tire repair kit replacing the spare tire help reduce weight an unspecified amount.

The 18-inch wheels are standard, but 17-inchers are available. Regardless of which wheels you choose, only 900 are available. Sunrise Yellow and Pure White are exclusive to this model, though you can also get it in blue. Gold-colored Brembo brake calipers are part of the package.

For those in the USA that can’t get a Spec C, I guess you will have to beef up your STI from our Performance Subaru Parts Store.

2 Worst Things About Stock Cars Corrected on this 2010 VW Passat

Publishsed by Dan on September 17th, 2009 | Posted in Client Cars | No Comments »

I hate OEM wheels, and I hate stock ride height.  As soon as you change that, even a Ford Fiesta can look the part.  This customers 2010 Volkswagen Passat did just that.  They geared up the car with some 20 inch Axis Penta Wheels and then lowered it on H&R Coilovers.  The Axis 1 piece cast wheel is a perfect option for those wanting a great look and proper fitment.  The H&R Coilovers keep the ride comfortable, yet improve the handling over the stock tendency to dive and roll.  Check out more Volkswagen Performance Racing Parts Here.

2010 Porsche GT3 is the Fastest Production 911 EVER!!!

Publishsed by Dan on August 20th, 2009 | Posted in Random World | No Comments »

Vivid Racing has become quite a name in the Porsche tuning market.  As we continually progress with these cars, we are following the news of the latest 2010 Porsche GT3.  Who knows, you might see one here at our shop!  We got this press release forwarded from Porsche AG and thought we would share the pics.  This car is NUTS!

Stuttgart, is putting the new 911 GT3 RS on the starting line: Delivering more engine power with less weight, featuring shorter transmission ratios and further advanced body and suspension elements, the new 911 GT3 RS was developed as the homologated racing version of the 911 GT3 and meets every requirement for ongoing success on the race track. The GT3 RS is the continuation in the series of absolutely uncompromising, sporting 911s homologated for the road.

The heart of the new GT3 RS, its power unit, is based on the engine of the 911 GT3. Like it, the RS power unit now displaces 3.8 instead of 3.6 liters, while delivering still more power and Rpm.

Thus, the new 911 GT3 RS features an engine with 15 additional bhp compared to the 911 GT3 with a maximum output of 450 horsepower from a high revving naturally-aspirated power unit. This six-cylinder reaches a specific output of more than 118 bhp per liter, a benchmark for a natural-aspirated engine in the world. And that is not all: compared to many other high-performance engines, the power unit in the new GT3 RS is completely suitable for everyday use.

The new 911 GT3 RS is equipped exclusively with a six-speed manual gearbox optimized for short gearshift travel, low weight and high efficiency. To enhance the level of performance throughout the entire range of engine and road speed, the gears come with a shorter transmission ratio than on the 911 GT3, deliberately making concessions in terms of even higher top speed.

To further improve its sporting behavior, the new 911 GT3 RS comes for the first time with a specifically adjusted PASM suspension and wider track not only at the rear, but also on the front axle. As a result, the body of the new 911 GT3 RS is wider not only at the rear, but also at the front by use of additional wheel arch covers.
The front axle is fitted with nine-inch-wide wheels running on 245/35 ZR 19 sports tires, the rear axle features twelve-inch-wide wheels on 325/30 ZR 19 sports tires.

The standard dynamic engine mounts enhance the car’s driving dynamics even further. Depending on driving conditions, the mounts change in their stiffness and damping effect, improving the connection between the engine and the body especially when driving very dynamically.

Aerodynamics on the GT3 RS develop even more down force than on the GT3, adding to the car’s race track capabilities. For exactly this reason, the use on the track, Porsche is introducing yet another new option in 2010: a lithium-ion battery that is delivered with the car in addition to the conventional lead battery, and – when used instead of the regular battery – reduces weight by more than 10 kg or 22 lbs.

The new 911 GT3 RS cannot deny its close connection to motor sports which is also obvious from its dynamic looks. The particularly low clearance of the car, the new, extra-large carbon-fiber rear wing with its specifically designed wing supports made of aluminum, the characteristic dual tailpipes on the extra-light titanium sports exhaust, and the special front and rear exclusive to this model make this even more evident.

2010 Nissan GTR Gets Equipped at Vivid Racing

Publishsed by Dan on August 10th, 2009 | Posted in Client Cars | No Comments »

One of our customers came by with his 2010 Nissan GTR for us to equip out to get more horsepower out of it.  Wanting to not have severe drone in the car but gain some power, the exhaust is always a great first option.  We went with the 5Zigen Inconel Exhaust system as it features titanium tips and one of the strongest and lightest metals available.  The exhaust saves 17.4lbs off the rear end of the car over the stock unit.    The main pipe is 80mm and then splits to a 60.5mm piping before it reaches the quad 100mm tips.  With the exhaust, power can further be maximized with the Cobb Accessport.  The 2010 maps are still in Beta testing as we found out on Nagtroc.org.  So we gave it a go and uploaded the files.  The car definitely hit and pulled hard.  The car ran a 11.7 in 95F heat.  Check out all our GTR Performance Products Here.
