Customers 997 Turbo Gets Motons, Bigger Turbos, and More

Publishsed by Dan on May 22nd, 2009 | Posted in Client Cars | No Comments »

Vivid Racing had one of its customers drive all the way from Texas to get outfitted with gear from Vivid Racing.  He brought his 2007 Porsche 997 Turbo to us to get the treatment.  Vivid Racing added HRE P40 20″ monoblock wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires.  To out fit his suspension we add the Moton Clubsport coilovers with H&R springs and Agency Power sway bar links.  To get the car balanced and responsive, we equipped the car with front and rear Agency Power sway bars and then gave the car a complete corner weight and balance alignment.  For power, we boosted up the car with some modified VTG turbos, Agency Power Intercoolers and Boost Hoses, Fabspeed Exhaust, and a Softronic ECU Flash.  On 93 octane the car made 510awhp and 580ft/lbs of torque on a Mustang AWD Dyno with an ambient room temperature of 90F.  This car was truly a blast to work on.  Check out all the pictures from the build of the vehicle here – http://www.vividracing.com/forums/gallery/browseimages.php?c=341.

997 Turbo Undergoing Modifications for Gumball 3000

Publishsed by Dan on April 20th, 2009 | Posted in Client Cars | No Comments »

Like everything we do, full documentation is going to happen with this build.  Vivid Racing has hooked up with Caleb aka Stuntman to take this Porsche 997 Turbo to the next level. This car is a TechArt car to begin with.  From the aero kit, to the power, it is well dressed. The car probably has TechArts power pack that includes the ECU Flash, Exhaust, Headers, and a neat little red powdercoated Y Pipe. We baselined the car and saw it put down on our Mustang Dyno 469 awhp and 536ft/lbs of torque. The car is a tiptronic, but still should not look this choppy. With 11,000 miles the dyno chart should not look this choppy, so we are going to change the plugs with the Denso IK22 1 step colder plugs. Before we do change the plugs, modified turbos, and Softronic ECU flash, we will be adding the Agency Power Cold Air intake to get a dyno on that. This car is on 93 octane already, but if we ran it on 91 octane, this car would be down on power for what the kit is suppose to do.  So stay tuned…

Project 135I Baseline vs Old Project 335I Dyno

Publishsed by Dan on February 11th, 2009 | Posted in Project Cars | No Comments »

Well we finally got a chance to do the baseline test on our Mustang dyno of our new Project 135I.  The car is completely stock besides the suspension and before we start to add tons of power parts, we want to see where she stands.  The car feels very strong for an auto and the dyno showed it.  The car made 260 rear wheel horsepower and 270 ft/lbs of torque.  That is more horsepower then a STI or EVO to the wheels.  We plan on doing an ECU flash, exhaust system, intake and much more.  Since we have played with this engine in the past on our 335I, I pulled up that dyno of the car and it was VERY similar.  The 335I baselined at 256 and 289ft/lbs of torque.  This car was a 6speed manual though.  Same dyno, similar conditions.  Should be interested to see how this lighter weight 135I turns out with the power mods!

2008 STI Build Up with Agency Power, COBB, and Cusco

Publishsed by Dan on January 8th, 2009 | Posted in Tuning & Tech | No Comments »

The 2008 STI is one of my favorite body styles.  The wagon shape has an aggressive stance and they really uped the interior from the original 2002 WRX that I owned.  There are many differences with the car as far as the power mods go with tuning compared to the earlier model.  However the basic engine is the same as the 2007 with some minor changes like the MAF sensor.  When we first started working on our Project 2008 WRX back in 2007, we were able to really start building some quality products through Agency Power.

One of our long time friends and customers recently picked up this silver 2008 Subaru STI and we began modding it for him.  Some of the initial build parts were done to improve the suspension.  This car was purchased to assault the mountain roads on a snowboard trip.  First we upgraded the shocks with the Cusco Zero2E Coilovers.  To keep the chassis handling well, we added our Agency Power Front and Rear Adjustable Sway Bars.  Then to give it that one more step of awesomeness, we put on the beefy Agency Power Rear Adjustable Control Arms.  Finally, since we are adding some of the Agency Power StrideSeven Wheels in 18×8.5 on the car, we had the calipers painted from black to Silver and added the STI logo.

Now that the handling was dialed, it was time to beef up the power in the car.  The first step was do to the modifications in stages which we could analyze the performance.  Our first stage was to do the Agency Power Cold Air Intake and the COBB AccessPort Flash.  Once we tested this setup, we then added the Agency Power Blow Off Valve and Agency Power Catback Exhaust.  The BOV is designed the same way the 2007 STI was and works either in 50/50 or 100% mode.  We opted to keep it at a 50/50 setup.  The catback exhaust is all 3inch stainless steel and features titanium tips.  The catback alone added about 10 horsepower.  Our final stage to upgrade the power was to add the catless downpipe to make it a complete turboback exhaust system.  The downpipe would help the exhaust flow much better making the total horsepower gain from the exhaust 20 horsepower.  With the bellmouth downpipe, there is not restriction in how the exhaust gas flows.  In addition, we prototyped a new Front Mount Intercooler which keeps the stock fog lights and water bottle resevoir and minimizes cutting.  Once this was bolted on, the entire car was retuned with the COBB Accessport for some impressive numbers.  In the end, the car put down 296 awhp and 313ft/lbs of torque on our Mustang Dyno.  Quite impressive while still on the stock turbo.  Compare this to our 2007 Project STI with similar mods.

Evo X Tuning – Dyno Testing Agency Power Parts

Publishsed by Mitch on October 27th, 2008 | Posted in Tuning & Tech | No Comments »

Hello All,

This past week we got an Evo X back on the dyno that we have been working on for a good amount of time.  This car is one of the cars that we use for research and development on our parts so that we know that they actually work and we see real world gains.

Well this car has a decent amount of parts but nothing too crazy.  His setup consists of Full Turbo Back Agency Power Exhaust, Agency Power Intake, Agency Power FMIC, Agency Power IC pipe (Upper) and our Agency Power/ Kelford Street Cams.

I did a test a little while ago just to test the cams and it gained a great amount of power and torque.  I left the tune about the same just to see what we could yield, but this last time around we were testing our FMIC and I decided to get in after we were all done and see what the car could do with better boost control and some fine tuning.

These cars never cease to amaze me.  They are really amazing and the amount of power that they make is really pretty incredible.

Since we first bought out Evo X I have learned a lot about how these cars operate and they truly are fantastic.  I urge anybody out there reading if you have an Evo X I would highly suggest you run these cams as they are awesome!!
