College family friends of mine, Big and Little D,  took their Corvette C6 Z06 and met up this past weekend to run with NY Exotic Car group through the beautiful roads of New York.  Their amazing Z06 equipped with the a B&B exhaust ripped and roared with other cars such as the Gallardo, Scuderia, 997TT, and more.  I got these pictures on his Vivid Racing Album Here so I thought I would share some.  NY guys know how to do it!  Having driven from New York City up to Montreal, I can say that those are some of the most amazing scenary highways ever!  Nice work Little D!

Despite the low exhibitor turnout, HRE Wheels had a great showing at the 2009 SEMA show in Las Vegas.  With premier cars in their booth including the Porsche Panamera and new all carbon fiber Devon GTX ($500,000), HRE truly set the bar between what a real engineering wheel company is and simple draw and cut companies.  In addition to the vehicles in their booth, cars were scattered all across the show rocking HRE Wheels.  Throughout the show HRE had the 2010 Camaro with the P43’s was displayed in the Meguire’s booth.  The flat black Lamborghini LP560 was featured in the Mobil 1 booth and was wearing a set of HRE CF43’s in flat black to match.  You will also find the beautiful 2010 Mustang RTR C  featuring a fully visible Carbon Fiber body as well as 20” HRE CF40’s in flat black.  Another private label project is the HTT Plethore that made it’s US debut at SEMA in the DuPont booth with a pair of 19” and 20” P40’s.  Also, the crazy blue Spectrewerkes GTR Corvette with a set of 19/20” CF40’s in flat black.  Check out some of these incredibly well done vehicles and view more pictures on our HRE Wheels Gallery and Store Here.

The sound of a Lamborghini is seductive, and it means big bucks for the University of Washington.

The Italian automaker is donating $1 million to the school. And in exchange, UW researchers will help Lamborghinis become lighter, faster and safer.

In Professor Paolo Feraboli’s labs, students research the latest technology in carbon fiber materials.

The lab is equipped with various machines, including one that stretches carbon fiber in every way you can imagine to determine its breaking point. Students also research how carbon fibers will break by slamming things into the front end of a real Lamborghini Chasis.

Someday this technology will be used to build not only Lamborghinis, but everyday cars to make them lighter and more fuel-efficient.

And UW researchers are no rookies to the scene. For the last few years they’ve been helping Boeing find lighter materials for the 787 Dreamliner.

“They’re trying to take what, up until now,was a specialty material used only for a handful of cars to scale up to small production and eventually mass production,” said Feraboli.

To mark the partnership, the president of Lamborghini brought some of the sleekest models with him to UW.

“Those cars have an aura about them. You don’t drive by; you arrive,” Feraboli said.
