Vivid Racing Releases the VR825 Power Kit for the Porsche 997 Turbo

Publishsed by Dan on October 28th, 2009 | Posted in Product Info | No Comments »

Streetability, high performance, racing inspired, and proven testing are all words to describe the VR825 power package for the 2007 to 2009 Porsche 997 Turbo. With a true bolt-on Garrett turbo kit for the 996 Turbo in our history, we wanted to take the same development, but enhance it 100% for the 997 Turbo. Realization of what the stock 997 Turbo motor was capable of, set us on the path to create this power kit. Beginning R&D in December 2008, we thrived to develop a bolt-on turbo kit that was capable of 1000 horsepower with engine modifications. For those 997 Turbo owners that do not want to touch the internals of the engine and keep the driveability as well as functionality of their car on a day to day basis is where we end at the VR825 Power Kit. This kit was designed around the daily driver and built to give your 997 Turbo the driveability of a stock car while around town or headed to dinner. However once you get into boost, the car is an insane piece of equipment designed to test your foots threshold.

Honda Fans, Remember the CR-X? How about the CR-Z!

Publishsed by Dan on October 27th, 2009 | Posted in Random World | No Comments »

Yahoo Motors – This spiritual successor to the venerable Honda CR-X originally made its debut as a concept car two years ago at the Tokyo Motor Show. And now, at this year’s show, Honda has revealed a new CR-Z, a 2-seat hybrid sports coupe that looks very much like the final production version scheduled to go on sale in the U.S. in the second half of 2010.

“Beyond great styling and features, the CR-Z will bring new levels of engagement and fun to customers interested in a small car or a hybrid vehicle,” says Eric Berkman, Honda’s vice president of planning.

Fitted with a 6-speed manual transmission and sport-tuned suspension, the upcoming CR-Z certainly will be engaging for the driver, the first hybrid sports coupe on the market. Although the car on display at Tokyo has a tiny back seat, the production CR-Z (which makes its worldwide debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January) is a sporty 2-seater, one with the added practicality of a hatchback.

Conveying its fun-to-drive nature, the CR-Z boasts a bold grille, slit openings for the headlamps and strong character lines that give this Honda an aggressive, angular look. It’s taller and less rounded that the original concept, making it much more practical and ready for production.

One styling cue that connects the CR-Z to the highly entertaining original CR-X is the shape of the rear quarter glass. Beneath the hood, the front-wheel-drive CR-Z is powered by a stronger version of the Insight’s 1.5-liter 4-cylinder hybrid powertrain. Honda’s Integrated Motor Assist works like an electric supercharger, effectively boosting both off-the-line response and fuel economy.

The CR-Z concept’s interior features more glitz than the production model will, but the layout will remain the same, with the main instrument bezel positioned behind a 3-spoke steering wheel flanked by pods for the auxiliary controls. With the CR-Z—which goes into production at Honda’s Suzuka factory in February—it appears that we will now be able to mix a healthy dose of driving fun with environmental consciousness.

Like all new performance vehicles, you will see products first at the Honda Performance Racing Store of Vivid Racing.

Softronic Racing Plenum Kit Installed on Porsche Cayman S

Publishsed by Dan on September 25th, 2009 | Posted in Client Cars | No Comments »

One of my customers just sent us pictures of his yellow Cayman S from Malaysia that he installed the Softronic Racing Plenum and Software kit on.

The plenum is a pretty easy install as the main hassle is getting off the engine access panel. The plenum and throttle body are a larger diameter then the stock unit to give you a true 25whp when the car is tuned. The ECU flash process is pretty simple too. The SRP kit includes the Durametric Cable which allows you to do ECU Flashing in minutes, see the instructions here - www.softronictuning.com/installation.

The customer was VERY VERY pleased with the performance gain and looking to an exhaust now. Here are some pics. Will try to get him on here to write his own review

Evo 9 on E-85

Publishsed by Mitch on September 17th, 2009 | Posted in Tuning & Tech | Comments Off

Today I put an Evo 9 on the dyno to just check to see its power now that it has switched to E-85.  This Evo has been on our dyno before and I help the customer to tune it on regular old 91 pump fuel.  He has since then put some E-85 in the tank and turned up the boost to 30psi and man does this car scream!!

The car made 444whp and375ft/lbs!  Now the kicker to all this is the turbo used is a stock appearing turbocharger! The turbo is made by Blouch and is called the BBK Full.  Car makes full boost (30psi) before 4000rpm!!  This is all on the stock 2.0l with no headstuds as well!  E-85 really is an amazing fuel and as we do more and more with it we can see that surpasses even most leaded race gases in terms of detonation resistance and it is cheaper that regular 91 pump fuel!  Win win if you ask me.

You can find any parts to make you Evolution scream here:
