RC 60lb Injector Installation Porsche 996 Turbo

This install was submitted by one of our 6speedonline.com forum customers from Greece.  You can see a couple of pictures and his description of HOW TO install these RC 60lb Injectors on the Porsche 996 Turbo.  Hope this helps.  You can view the original thread here

1 - There is no need to lower the motor, not even an inch...  I did everything with the motor in the original position.

2 - Drivers Side.

First I removed the airbox and the intercooler hose... It can be removed from upper side if you first remove the airbox... No need to jack the car and go underneath...  Then I removed fuel filter, F hose (for more space) and the metal intake hose that goes from the airbox behind the engine, to the firewall... This hose has FOUR screws and a clamp... Three of them are at its end, near the firewall and need a large extension on a 10mm wrench to be unbolted while the fourth one sits on the upper side, near the F hose... When hose is removed you can finally see the fuel rail... Then I unscrewed fuel hose from the filter and second fuel hose that goes to the other side of the engine with 17mm and 19mm wrench. Then I unbolted two 10mm screws that keep the rail in place, reversed the rail upside down so to unplug the connections to injectors and took the rail out.  Replaced stock injectors with RC 60lb injectors and reinstalled the rail line. The problem is that it seats 6mm higher and 5mm to the left than before because new injectors are larger... Injectors are seated at 45degrees angle compared to fuel rail so the holes of the rail need to be enlarged for the screws to pass and bolt to intake... Photos will show exactly the difference... Also because now fuel rail seats higher needs spacers, and i used 2 nuts of 6mm height... Everything was OK, rail was very stable without any leakage... I reinstalled everything in reverse order... except for the airbox...

3 - Passenger Side.

With the airbox removed, remove engine only side of intercooler hose and air pump... Air pump is easy, just 5 bolts, a hose and a plug... Also I removed the vacuum solenoid bolted on airpump so to manage to get out of the engine bay the air pump!! Now fuel rail and FPR are seen... But you need to get rid of the harness that sits on the rail... Cut the tire wraps, and remove harness plastic base... Then harness becomes flexible so unbolt fuel connections and two 10mm bolts that holds the rail on the intake... Turn upside down the rail and remove the injectors there... The rail with the injectors in place is not possible to get out... With the injectors in hand take the rail out, replace the FPR.  Enlarge the 2 holes of the 10mm bolts stated before and re position the rail below harness so to install new injectors... Install new injectors and bolt the rail on the intake... Then reinstall harness base, clamps, tire wraps, conectors, air pump, intercooler hose and airbox... When air pump is reinstalled because fuel rail is higher now it might touch a metallic fuel line... I slightly lowered this line to avoid metal to metal contact...
