One of the often overlooked weak points of the 4G63 engine is the rise in oil temperature. This is especially noticeable in circuit racing. The EVO uses a thermo switch that will work when the temperature gets around 185°F, but when the oil temp is low, it will restrict the oil flow to the oil cooler constantly regardless of the temperature. Tomei’s oil thermostat delete ensures oil is constantly flowing through the oil cooler regardless of temperature. This ensures your engine is always properly cooling its oil. It is easy to revert back to the OEM switch for winter use to prevent over cooling.
