Drilled Rotors are the best brake upgrade you can do to your stock brakes. When your brake rotors wear out, you will notice them having a groove in them and some hotspots from over use. Sometimes when rotors get to worn, the surface has build up on it causing the steering wheel to shake. Instead of replacing them stock OEM rotors with the same, most people like to upgrade to Drilled Rotors. Drilled Rotors feature a drilled hole pattern throughout the rotor which helps dissipate heat better. Not only are drilled rotors lighter, they also provide better braking performance. When you have less heat on the rotor surface, the pads temperatures do not get as high. The holes act as ventilation also eliminating extra pad build up. If you look at winning race teams, you will notice them using both drilled and slotted rotors. Each team has their different opinion which is better. But for a street car looking to upgrade their brake rotors, drilled is a stylish way to go!
Drilled brake rotors are usually sold as a pair. Rotors are only sold as left or right if they are designated by a L or a R in the part number. When rotors are sold as a pair, it is either for the front axle or rear axle complete. As long as the rotors are OEM replacements, no other modifications are necessary. It is usually recommended to get new pads when you replace your rotors. This will give you 2 fresh surfaces to wear into each other.
