Mission 11 - No More PorscheBBQ!

The Arizona heat combined with a rear engine of the Porsche 996 makes for an unhappy car. High engine temperatures rapes power from any car. There is only 2 ways to overcome this problem. First, move the hell out of Arizona. Second, get Porsche's factory 3rd radiator kit for your 996 Carrera. The first seems like a great deal, but I can't. The second is about $600ish, but makes a huge difference in life.

The 3rd radiator kit fits in the center of your front bumper to get direct cooling on a larger volume then just the 2 side radiators. The kit includes the radiator, adapter hoses, brackets, bumper duct, and all hardware necessary to add on to your car.

The fitment of Porsche's 3rd Radiator is time consuming. You need to remove the bumper, drain the coolant, take off existing lines, and more. Once this is complete, bolting up the new pieces and getting the parts in place is simple. The total install time is about 3 hours.

After we filled the coolant back up and checked for leaks, we put the bumper back on and took the car for a drive. Ripping it around, turning the AC off, leaving the car on at idle, it just stayed cool! Overall, it was about a 20 or 30 degree difference when check with our AutoEnginuity scan tool. Overall impression... This is a must have for road racers or drivers in hot climates. It is manadatory to run with forced induction and the improvement in engine cooling should make it mandatory for everyone!
