Stage 3 - 996TT Vision Comes Alive

Since the day that we bought the car, we had a vision of what we wanted it to look like. Most project car builds it takes a while to reach your vision. Sometimes months, sometimes a full year. In this case, the VR Project 996TT has been coming together pretty fast. After the intro power mods were complete, we needed to get rid of that ugly stock look of the car. First order of business was to replace those chrome disasters with something more fashionable and functional. Like our last 996 we build, we choose IForged wheels for their quality, fitment, and style. Not to mention the price is much less then the competition. We choose their new Monaco style from the Precision Series. The 19x8.5 fronts offer a 2.5inch lip where the 19x12 rears give you close to a 4inch lip. The 3 piece wheel has a black center with polish lips for a fashionable look. Not only do they stand out, they are made to perform at about 19lbs in front and 24lbs in the rear. For tires we went with our sponsor Michelin. Providing some of the best street tires, we wrapped our IForged wheels in the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2. A 235/35/19 in the front with a 315/25/19 in the rear for maximum traction and handling.

Next, to help the car sit lower and improve the handling dynamics, we added a set of JIC CROSS Coilovers. The JIC CROSS is the premier coilover for track and aggressive street driving. Utilizing a monotube shock design, the CROSS coilovers include front camber plates and rear pillowball mounts. The coilover gives you 16 way adjustable dampening to dial in the coilovers for your driving needs. Every set of coilovers comes preadjusted for a direct setup. To enhance the suspension handling, we also added a set of Porsche OEM GT3 adjustable sway bars. The 5 way adjustable front and 4 way adjustable rears optimized the handling setup. To improve rigidity, we also added some Agency Power rear sway bar links and Agency Power rear control arms. The rear control arms utilize a spherical rod end setup to gain the maximum amount of camber and toe adjustments.

Now that the handling was done, the shoes were laced, it was time to work on the aesthetics. Yellow car and red brakes does not fly. So instead of dropping big bucks on a Brembo or StopTech kit again, we choose to keep the factory Porsche brakes since we were not going to be doing competitive events. We took the stock calipers and powder coated them Yellow. To gain better braking performance, we added front and rear Agency Power Steel Braided Brake Lines with Motul Synthetic Brake Fluid for a firmer pedal response. Once the brakes were completed, the last step was the outside.

Finalizing the outside, we wanted an aggressive aero kit, but not something to over the top. We hooked up with a company called Precision Porsche. They have replica aero kit products for most Porsche models. They got us this TA Style front bumper, side skirts, side vents and GT2 rear wing. The front bumper included the brake ducting, lower lip, and vent. Perfect fit and amazing quality. Side skirts fit well, needed some love to get them to adhere to the body, but once done, very hot! The GT2 rear wing changed the style of the car immensely. The more aggressive tail simply took that stock look to another level. Some modification was made to the underside parts to bolt the fan on and it did require a harness for the wing light. The complete Aero Kit package retails around $3800 which is several thousands less then the real deal.
