VR 996TT Gets New Shoes and ICE
VR 996TT Gets New Shoes and ICE

Turn up the flavor meter, Vivid Racing added some new mods to their project 996TT. We decided to hit the track a little more often and wanted a new racing wheel and tire. For years we have used Volk Racing Wheels (www.rayswheels.co.jp) on all our JDM project cars. With the new Porsche fitment, we had to try a set out! The 18" staggard setup weighs about 17lbs for the front and 20lbs for the rear. We added the best handling tires to give the ultimate grip on the track. The Michelin Pilot Cups proved to be invincible lap after lap.

Once the wheels came back from Powdercoat to get a punk rock Flat Black look, we mounted them and fitted them to the car! In addition to the new wheels, we wanted to increase our ICE and monitoring system. So we added a custom gauge panel with 3 Autometer (www.autometer.com) gauges. Boost, EGT, and Oil Pressure. We choose to do another boost gauge because of our external wastegates. With the factory boost solenoid disconnected, we wanted to make sure our pressure was on! And of course, when racing, EGT and Oil Pressure is important!

Finally for the ICE side, we added a Eclipse AVN 5500 (www.eclipse-web.com) Head Unit. This unit we custom made a carbon fiber panel for it. The 6.5 inch LCD screen folds down to reveal 2 Slots for CD's and DVD's. The head unit features an IPod interface, Navigation, and many more cool uses we have yet to figure out!

Stay tuned for some pro shots of the interior and exterior. As well, keep your eyes open for the next mods in line including paint match roll cage, brembo brakes, and big turbo upgrade!
