Function 9 - Turbo Timer. Convenience or essential?

You have been tooling around town, beating up Civics, Corvettes, and all those other hot rodders. You get home and remember something you read online about needing to let your turbo charged car cool down. "Is this true, did I read it wrong, does it matter." After you have finishing saying these things to yourself, we jump in and say, "Yes"!

Cooling your turbo charged car is essential for longevity of your turbo's life. After hard driving, the turbo needs a chance to wind down and "take a load off". Turbo timers are designed to allow you to leave the vehicle, remove the key, and let the car cool and turn itself off.

Turbo timers are available in many different styles. Most are a 1/4 din size to fit next to your cup holder. Some have boost read outs, air fuel meters, and some can tell you 1/4 mile times and other information such as volt meter. The main purpose is to cool down the car appropriately.

Vivid Racing knows what best performs for their cars. We have choosen the Blitz FATT turbo timer for our EVO VIII. With a full PLUG AND PLAY harness, the blitz thin 1/4 din unit is simple and easy to install while efficiently getting the job done. With many places to mount and prolonging the life of your turbo, this step in Project EVO was a must and should have been done earlier. For more tips on the install of the Turbo Timer go to our Technical Section.
