Function 20 - HKS sucks down the air.
Function 20 - HKS sucks down the air.

It's been about a month since our last mod. No we are not slowing down at all. We have been so busy building a new site, obtaining awesome products, and starting to move to a huge building. Our EVO will, still, and destroy everyone else's guaranteed! We have so much more planned. Bigger intercooler, body kit, carbon hood, turbo kit, and lots others! So make sure you stay tuned!

Our next toy was something to test on theory. Do open air or cold air intakes work better then the stock air box. Well we removed our Monster Sport carbon box and filter and begin that install of the HKS Suction Kit. The kit includes a new pipe from the turbo to the MAF sensor, and then a tube and giant 6inch foam filter. The suction pipe is much more efficient then the stock setup. Smooth aluminum pipe with wide diameter enabled more air to flow faster.

Installing the part was not that hard, yet tedious. With little room to work with getting the tubes on and BOV to plug in and such took some energy. I fought it and with some friends help, got her in! The fit was cramped. To keep the air flowing from the front of the car I took the carbon Monster Sport air box and cut it like the stock unit. With all in place it was time to give it a test.

First impression of the kit give you a good sense of mid range power. More air is able to get "sucked" in. The intake is loud though with our Forge Recirc BOV. The noise is like I am stepping on a small dog! But does intimidate others. Happy with the outcome, though I amy switch back to the stock BOV to see if performance changes.
