In the ever ending quest for horsepower, the only way to truly make it happen on the EVO VIII is by adding a turbo kit. The factory turbo is capable of 300 wheel horsepower, but at its limits, it barely exceeds that point. After having our fully tuned EVO VIII on a Dyno Dynamics dyno putting down just about 310 wheel horsepower, it was time for a change. Do we build our own? Do we leave it stock? Or should we try a big turbo kit. We turned to Greddy for this.

The Greddy T67 kit was both cost effective and a good performer. Since our car is no longer going to be road raced, we were looking for a kit that would have a big punch, but still be daily driveable. The T67 is a bit laggy compared to the stock twin scroll. But all and all, it met our requirements. Priced at around $3000 for a complete kit (Turbo, manifold, wastegate, hardware, and fittings), the Greddy T67 kit would now be installed on our famous Vivid Racing Project EVO VIII.

Since our car was already apart for fabbing a turbo kit of our own... long story, the installtion was a bit quicker. The most time consuming part is taking off the factory pieces. Now that this was done the Greddy kit would be a snap. One of the best features in my opinion would be how clean all the parts would fit without hassle like most aftermarket things. The manifold, the lines, the fittings, everything was really easy to get together. The instructions clearly listed how different items faced.

Once the kit was all together and the fluids were filled we checked for any missing hardware, left out tools, or unconnected hoses. After the check was ok we turned her over. Without a doubt it fired right up with no problems. The car was not tuned but we could still take it for a short test run. The external waste gate was a bit loud at 6000rpm but once tuned it would be well worth it.

Final impression. Best bang for the buck. Quality pieces, great potential power output and very affordable. Like all the Project EVO parts, you can find this on our VR Store link below.
