Phase 8 - Bigger, Blacker, and Harder
Phase 8 - Bigger, Blacker, and Harder

Bigger, blacker, and more extreme. We are not talking about Chris Rock but the all new StopTech brake kit for our Vivid Racing Project M3. Like our other cars, the only choice for brakes was StopTech. With carefully engineered Balanced Braking Systems, quality CNC machined parts, and numerous tests we have always used StopTech on our cars. From the Blue WRX, EVO VIII, and RX8, the StopTech brand name has been proven on the track and in daily driving by Vivid Racing.

Once our HUGE 19" wheels from DTM were mounted, the stock brakes just did not cut it. In fact, it was embarrasing. We made the call to Bob Lee at StopTech and let him know what we needed. We threw at us an incredible setup. 15inch front rotors and 14 inch rear rotors with a 4 piston caliper front and rear. Of course for styling and performance we got the rotors cross drilled. Like all StopTech Big Brake Kits, they included the steel braided brakelines and performance pads.

Now this kit is no easy task for installation. Modification to the factory backing plate is just one job. The overall kit does fit well. Actually extremely well. But when doing a 4 wheel kit, there is a lot of time required. Removing, bleeding, bolting, testing, bedding, and more. All and all, install time is about 4-5 hours for a normal Joe.

The end result is a great looking brake kit that performs amazing. Though our M3 is purely a street car, the enhanced braking is fun for daily driving and gives you that extra edge in pushing the limits. If your looking to get these big wheels on your ride, look to spend about $5,000. These are no toys!
