A major handling improvement like the front strut bar is the rear strut bar. A strut bar will keep the rear end from flexing, reduce body roll, and enhance your cornering abilities. Rear strut bars come in different styles, prices, and colors. We only run the best on our Vivid WRX II, so we put the Cusco Carbon Fiber 40mm Rear strut bar on!
First to change the strut bar you have to remove the rear seats. They are very easy and light to remove. The bottom cushion comes off with 2 bolts and slides out. The back piece has 4 bolts that come out and then you lift up and pop that section out.
From the trunk or the back seat you can see where the strut bar comes through. There will be some styrofoam to remove with your fingers.
You should now be able to see directly through that whole where the strut top is to the trunk. The center section of the bar will be attached to the ends on either side that go through these holes.
Like the front strut tower bar you need to loosen the bolts off the strut tops and remove them. Once they are removed then take the side piece of the strut bar and wedge it in there over the bolts. If the seatbelt is in the way loosen the screw to give you more room. Place the bolts back on and tighten. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.
Now you should be able to see the end from the trunk side. You can now start the other side of the car the same as you did the first.
Connecting the 2 sides with the center section is easy. Slide the bolts throw nad tighten the screws. Do one side at a time and you should be good!
