the dealership is going to give me the short throw shifter for free when they fix the paint as well.

Maybe this is what mastro does a lot(along with giving discounts to people without subaus), and is why they charge more for oem parts then other dealerships. I love mastro!

Some times the rust could be caused by iron filings that are on the car... from the train ride to the dealership. but maybe not... if it is through the paint, that is another story.
