Steel Braided Brake Lines are a great upgrade for the factory brake system. Many customers do not understand the advantage of steel braided brake lines until they are actually installed on the car. The brake lines from the factory are made of rubber and these rubber hoses can flex. When you push the brake pedal hard, there is some play in it because of how the fluid pushes inside this line. Well with steel braided brakelines, there is no additional flex because of the structural integrity of the hose. This means you have a firmer pedal feel for street driving and on the track.
Steel Braided Brake Lines are made with teflon hose so it can handle the corrosive wear properties that brake fluid has. Around the teflon tube is a wound steel cover to keep that rigidity of the line and finally a plastic housing to prevent any additional wear and tear on the brake line. These coatings can be any number of colors as they are just a aesthetic shielding. At the end of each line is a CNC machined hose fitting to attach to your cars factory hard line brake system and your brake caliper. These fittings are what allow the fluid to flow through the line and into the brake system. Some times these fittings require replacement copper washers that are included in the kits.
When upgrading to a set of steel braided brake lines, it is recommended to upgrade or flush your brake fluid as well. Any brake fluid can be used but if you are going to upgrade, we recommend using a DOT 4 fluid. DOT4 has a higher boiling point than standard fluid. This means that you can brake harder, later, and with more force without fear of your brakes giving out.
