Specifically designed for owners of BMW automobiles, the 57Motorsports G07FXX racing wheel was cast with a split spoke design that was set wider than the original. This creates a controlled metal flow which increases density at the lines of metal flow. Weight was reduced from lug nut holes, behind the spokes, around the hub mounting pad and around the wheel spokes by means of a CNC machine. Notwithstanding the cut outs, however, there was no compromise to the strength of the rim.
Cutting-edge wheel theories are used in the manufacture of the G07FXX. gramLights provides a level of performance that satisfies drivers with a passion for sports and offers unique and innovative designs. GramLights are manufactured in Japan at the Rays Wheels plant. Rays Engineering applies their advanced casting technology on GramLights wheels, making them strong and lightweight. They also conform to the JWL Japanese standards, not to mention Rays stringent in-house quality control examinations.
Rays dramatically improves the performance of its cast wheels by applying the spinning method used for forged wheels to cast rim molding. This is known as the Rays Cast Flow Forming (RCF) method.
The RCF method is designed to increase the strength of the G07FXX by creating a tissue similar to what are referred to as fiber flow lines in the structure of cast wheels. Producing cast wheels using this method is just one of the areas in which Rays excels.
While the RCF method is designed to strengthen wheel rims, the TAF method of using water-cooled molds has been developed to reinforce all wheel parts equally.
Compared to casting methods in which cooling is predominantly performed naturally by exposure to air, the TAF method accelerates the cooling speed using water lines built into the cast. If a metal structure is cooled quickly, its inner components shrink, making it easier to obtain a closely bound, high-quality metal structure.
In the belief that the JWL standards adhered to in Japan are the minimum strength standards that all wheel manufacturers must meet, Rays conducts its own practical strength tests for the G07FXX that better reflect actual driving conditions. The company requires all of its wheels to meet its own in-house standards (JWL+R) and all of its cast wheels to meet even more rigorous in-house standards (JWL+R SPEC1). Safety a paramount requirement that Rays must meet no matter how much it may strive to achieve high performance. The fundamental mission of Rays is to ensure the safety of all drivers that use its wheels.
For nearly all types of vehicles, there is a wide variety of lightweight metal wheels on the market. The 57Motorsport G07FXX wheels are one clear example of lightweight wheels. Consider your wheels lighter, and make the suspension even smoother. Each bump can be more readily and efficiently managed. It helps keep the tires in contact with the asphalt for longer and is excellent news for vehicle stability and braking. Lightweight wheels are also easier to mount when replacing factory wheels. If you like a particular aftermarket wheel, then at least try to fit the weight of the stock wheel. If necessary, it's easier to go lighter than stock.
