Skunk2 BRZ/FRS/FT86 & Honda K Series 3-Bar MAP Sensor Honda | Acura 02-17
With all modern electronically fuel injected vehicles, the ECU needs to know how much air is flowing into the engine. Without any sort of flow or pressure reading, the ECU can’t adjust fueling and ignition correctly. Unfortunately, these air sensors (mass air flow and manifold absolute pressure) can go bad over time.
Typically these sensors go bad when exposed to excessive amounts of dirt or oil. Sometimes the sensors just go bad with age and need to be replaced. Regardless of how these sensors go bad, they need to be replacement once they begin to fail.
