Any 911 owner will say there is room for improvement in the performance department. Being that the Porsche is older, manufactures are still coming out with newer, updated technology, parts to aid the performance of a classic Porsche. aFe is keen in the aftermarket performance world and immediately recognized where the 911 Carrera was lacking.
The factory intake system didn’t seem to pull in enough cool air. Realizing this design flaw, aFe engineered a cold air intake system to improve the efficiency of the engine and bring overall intake air temperatures down. Utilizing a heat soak resistant XLPE material, aFe is able to achieve a durable intake while keeping intake air temps low.
To make for easy installation, the aFe intake is integrated into the factory ducting meaning it is a direct fit and no modification or hardware is necessary. The two filters included with this intake are enclosed by the XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene) polymer housing creating a barrier for heat within the engine bay. With the cold air intake using a heat resistant material and routing through factory vents, the intake is receiving the coldest air possible.
aFe opted to use two 6-inch tall 360-degree radial flow air filters which feature 5 layers of progressively finer cotton gauze media. The filter media allows maximum filtration while promoting high airflow as well. Covering all the bases of performance was key for aFe, because of this, we are given a quality cold air intake that boosts the performance of the thriving 3.6L flat-six under the hood.
