The First Agency Power Carbon Fiber 570s Wing Set up Installed on Customers Vehicle
The Mclaren 570S wing from Agency Power first made its debut in March (Link) and the response has been very positive. This is the first of its kind in terms of a body mounted wing for the 570s, which requires very little modification to be installed. A customer recently inquired about this new product for a replica 570SGT4 project that he was in the process of completing. This was the perfect product for what he wanted accomplished and this was where the journey began…
Signature Autohaus contacted us on behalf of their customer for more information about the product and installation. This company is located out of Fort Lauderdale FL, and does a ton of work on sports cars and exotics. We discussed the different wing blade options and gave detailed descriptions about installation. There is a slight amount of trimming that needs to be done in order for the uprights to fit perfectly under the engine cover. This slight trimming is only a surround piece which can be replaced. With the engine cover installed you will not notice the modified surround, even with the wing completely uninstalled. In the end they chose to go with the 67″ wing blade option for this specific installation. The wing, which is provided by APR, is part of the GTC line which provides a unique shape and great downforce / Drag properties. Once everything was ordered, the build was started and shortly after Signature Autohaus received their shiny new Mclaren wing.
Upon arrival of the new wing blade kit, Signature Autohaus quickly got to work on the installation. As per our recommendations, taping off the entire area will help prevent any un-intended scratches or marks on the vehicle during install. Using the provided 3d printed template, they were able to easily trace and cut the areas that needed to be modified for the new uprights. After the proper cuts were made to the surround, it was now time to remove the factory rear engine cover mount. This entire piece is replaced with an aluminum bracket whichthe new uprights mount to and has pre-installed inserts for the factory engine cover. All of these aluminum parts are powder coated black for a uniform look and to provide a durable coating. Once that portion of the installation is completed, it is now time to mount the wing. There are different mounting holes on the uprights which allow for different angles and wing positioning. Once the 4 screws are secured, the installation is completed. This whole process is not overly complicated, but we encourage you to take your time and double check everything to make sure the end result is uniform and precise.
