When Honda released the new FK8 Civic Type R, enthusiasts in the US were ecstatic. It’s the first turbocharged Type R ever, and the fastest front wheel drive car ever. With that new turbocharged engine came an impressive 306 horsepower and 295 ft-lbs of torque. With more horsepower comes more heat, and if you plan on taking your FK8 Civic Type R to track days, keeping those temperatures under control can be difficult. GReddy recognized this problem and has been developing new parts to solve this problem. Their latest part to be released is their all new oil cooler for the FK8.
This new oil cooler is designed to go in an unused area of the left part of the front bumper. By mounting it in an unused location, airflow to the radiator and intercooler will not be negatively affected. Without this oil cooler, you run the risk of the oil reaching a temperature where it can begin to lose it’s lubricity and can no longer properly lubricate the engine. The oil block has an internal thermostat to allow your oil to get up to operating temperature during cold days.
Installation is pretty easy, as the oil block simply mounts to the existing oil filter location and high-performance lines are included with the kit.
