The Audi R8, based on the Audi Le Mans Quattro concept car, first appeared at the 2003 International Geneva Motor Show and the 2003 Frankfurt International Show. The Audi R8 road car was officially launched at the Paris Auto Show on September 30th, 2006. The initial models included the R8 4.2L FSI coupe with a naturally aspirated V8 and an R8 5.2L FSI coupe with a high revving V10, the same exact engine that sits in a Lamborghini Huracan.
The Audi R8 received a face-lift in 2012, introducing new curves and better aerodynamics to help exceed it’s performance expectations. A new model called “V10 Plus” was added to the collection, bringing improved sports tuning and additional performance driving modes. The R8 then continued it’s legacy with the help of Marvel Studios, as the iconic character known as “Iron Man” is seen driving the R8 V10 model in several Marvel movies.
Here at Vivid Racing, we do not have Iron Man, but we do have customers who are true car enthusiasts. One of our dear customers recently brought in his 2010 Audi R8 V10 model and wanted some solid performance gains along with improved sound – so we gave him just that.
Our first step was installing a Fi Exhaust system, which offers intelligent ECU-controlled exhaust valves, perfectly balanced and optimized for acoustics and performance. It is a true testament to their philosophy of the ultimate union of comfort and performance experience for the driver and passengers.

When the valves are fully open for maximum flow and power, it creates an exotic tone and allows for high performance. When the valves are closed, exhaust volume is reduced for a more comfortable drive. With Fi’s latest technology, just one click on the remote control will set up any rpm to activate the valves via automatic mode. The automatic mode allows for the system to detect the engine RPM and intelligently switch comfort/racing exhaust profiles. Users can also opt to change the valve on/off mode as desired by the remote control when driving.
Furthermore, the muffler internals are individually designed and fabricated for each car model, a perfect testament of Fi’s insistence on producing the best-customized products in the market with Valvetronic technology for ultimate performance. Each product has its own unique sound acoustics and performance, all to add the “extra” in extraordinary.
The Audi R8 V10 performance was then greatly improved with an ECU Flash. Like all naturally-aspirated vehicles, changing the vehicle’s calibration allows for improvement of the vehicle’s throttle response, horsepower, and torque. The car will rev out faster, which will reduce the sluggish off-the-line feeling till the peak of the powerband hits. The mid-range pulls harder in its peak torque and horsepower zones, allowing the car to increase power all the way to redline.
Key features:

In stock form, the 5.2L V10 made an impressive 390 lb-ft of torque and 497 all-wheel horsepower. But once we added our Stage 1 VR Tuned ECU Flash combined with the Fi Exhaust system, we experienced a respectable gain of 10 lb-ft of torque and 40 all-wheel horsepower. Keep in mind, that the Audi R8 was running on 91 octane with our dyno room being over 100°F – you will experience much better gains in more optimal conditions.
Key features:
- Stock Power: 550HP | 391FT/LB
- Stage 1 Tuned Power: 580HP | 424FT/LB
- Stage 2 Tuned Power: 600HP | 439FT/LB
