Carbon Fiber Front Lip Add-On From AutoTecknic – Initial Quality and Detailed Unboxing Photos
Our Friend @mandamarza recently inquired about a front lip for her E92 M3. The E92 M3 chassis has a ton of different options in terms of aerodynamic and body parts that are currently available in the aftermarket. For example, if you are racing your M3, something like a APR front splitter with support rods can provide much needed down-force While on the track. On the other end, a front lip add-on made from carbon fiber or FRP can provide a nice touch to your vehicle, increasing the overall aggressiveness and also helps to protect the bumper. There were a few stipulations given for front lip design and function to fit Amandas driving needs. She wanted something that was not overly aggressive or low hanging, because she is lowered and does not always have the best roads to navigate through. Another important detail she mentioned is that the front lip also had to made of carbon fiber. This would help to accent her other modifications and for give it a touch of high end class.
Given these outlines, the AutoTecknic front add-on fit the bill perfectly. This center section add-on does a nice job of “leveling” out the front end and conforming to the middle section of the bumper. The way this piece slips into the lower air-dam sections looks like a factory peice that came straight from BMW’s catalog. The 2×2 Carbon fiber weave lays uniformly over the entire section with no imperfections or obvious flaws in its finish. The under side of this part features the Autotecknic seal of approval as well as pre-installed 3M VHB double sided tape. Installation is very straight forward, only requiring a few screws and a little heat to get the tape to stick properly. The end result is a great looking front lip that will turn heads wherever it is seen. The maximum ground clearance allowed by this products insures years of use without destroying it on every speed bump in the city.
