The Polaris Ranger XP 900 is a purpose-built four-wheeler designed for adventure. It spotlights class-leading power and ride quality with a ProStar engine, reliable suspension, true all-wheel-drive, and enough seating for three. The Polaris Ranger XP 900 rises above the competition with its versatility, functionality, comforts, and overall features. Since launching in 2013, the model enjoyed a very successful run and is now replaced by the new Ranger 1000. While it may not be in production anymore, the aftermarket still offers an impressive amount of replacement parts and upgrades for the XP 900.
Our customer, Drew Whaley, is the owner of a 2018 Polaris Ranger XP 900 and has done quite a bit of work to his UTV. It has a 3-inch lift on it with 30-inch MotoClaw tires and SuperATV A-arms for added clearance and an even stronger suspension. Drew’s XP 900 was also treated to a full cab with heat and a Velex Marine head unit (500-watt amp and 10-inch sub) to blast tunes on the go. Recently, he was also looking to upgrade his ride with a Blow Hole clutch fan and a complete DuraClutch clutch from Vivid Racing. The DuraClutch Clutch Kit offers continuous belt engagement with a new Duraclutch primary and secondary, which results in no more belt burning and longer overall belt life. The Duraclutch System provides just the right engine braking for navigating hills and trails so you can be more confident on your next adventure. This package is, in fact, superior in all conditions for downhill control. Apart from providing seamless downhill engine braking transitions, special backdrive cam profiles are developed to optimize engine braking characteristics. Start-up is extremely smooth with absolutely no jerking or hesitation.
The DuraClutch kit has two internal clutch packs in the Primary, one in the movable sheave and one in the stationary sheave engage at low RPM. These centrifugal clutch packs transmit more torque at startup than sheaves engaging on a belt/sheave interface. When fully engaged, they lock to the drums with no efficiency or performance loss. There is no belt burning when starting on a hill, pulling heavy loads, or inadvertently running in HI gear instead of LO. With this kit, Drew’s 2018 Polaris Ranger XP 900 enjoys equal or better acceleration and speed compared to the stock clutch with this one also being expertly tuned for trail riding and fuel economy.
