Traditional optics, such as simple lenses and reflectors, tend to lose light internally and give off unwanted glare. With these options, not all of the light shines on the intended area or target, which is far from desirable. Instead, the custom-engineered TIR optic in the Diode Dynamics SS3 Series collects all of the light from the LED and directs it only where you need it. This drastically reduces unnecessary glare and improves total efficiency to deliver a better user experience.
And while other options on the market lose as much as 10 percent of the light output shining through an outer lens, the custom-molded TIR optic doubles as both the optic and main lens for greater efficiency and output. As a result of this innovative feature, the total intensity of the SS3 LED is much greater than other pods on the market that use basic optics or reflectors with standard outer lenses.
