Fidanza has been around for a long time and known as the Flywheel and Cam Gear company. Making some of the best lightweight flywheels in aluminum and steel, Fidanza has expanded its product offerings to now include short shifters. The 3rd pedal cars are disappearing fast with the performance of dual clutch transmissions, but for those still clutching, a short shifter is a must in your car. A short throw effectively decreases the amount of lever travel you have to go between gears by not reducing the height of the lever, but by elongating the lower part to the pivot point. The distance traveled of the lever is less as the shifter is is able to move the linkage between gears with less effort up top. Typical short shifters are made from treated steel. Aluminum parts can be used on short shifter components, but it is not optimum for the pressure the lever is put through as you slam through the gears.
