Fortune Auto 500 Coilvers Compared to 510 Coilovers

Is the $1000 dollar price difference between the Fortune Auto 500 and 510 worth it?! You might be thinking that 500 and 510 are close numbers so the coilovers must be similar, and if you think that, then you are wrong.

The Fortune Auto 500 is an insanely great coilover especially for daily driving. The 500 series coilovers is single adjustable. This means that rebound and compression are a single adjustment knob known as “dampening”. The design of the damper utilizes a High Flow Digressive Piston to optimize the perfect balance between performance and comfort. This allows for stiff low speed compression/rebound force. So the driver will feel more controlled under occasional track use and spirited driving. Yet at fast stroke speeds, the suspension becomes supple in response to road irregularities giving the driver maximum control. All Fortune Auto 500 coilovers feature 24 step adjustable compression. With a monotube shock design, they are much improved over a lesser quality brands that use a twin tube damper. All 500 series shocks feature high grade 6061 T6 aluminum parts such as strut mounts, camber plates, and lower spring perches. Additional features include Koyo Japanese radial bearings which allow the shock to rotate lock to lock without binding. In lesser quality coilovers, inferior bearings can become loose or generate play. This causes clunking noises and unsafe functioning of the coilover system. Even though the Fortune Auto 500 series coilovers has standard spring rates, Fortune Auto has partnered with Swift Springs to allow customization of the systems. If you do not know what spring rates you want to run, Fortune Auto can help recommend these based upon your car setup, use, and driving style.

The Fortune Auto 510 series may sound like it’s just a small bump up. 500…510, right? But that couldn’t be further from the truth. The 510 series is designed specifically for the track and a ton of people use it on their drift builds. While both the 500 and 510 share the same architecture, the internals of the 510 have a much more digressive piston as well as better shim stacks to allow for much better rebound force than the 500. The difference in this technology is the Concave Flow Digressive Piston design. This piston design gives the coilovers a Jekyll and Hyde personality. Lower spring rates can be stiffend up by using the wide damping range as an artificial spring rate. With 24 way adjustable dampening, you get a huge range from comfort on the street to unyielding performance on the track by just twisting the knob. The 510’s piston also has a “blow off” feature that helps when hitting rough patched on the track like potholes or track curbing. As well the 510’s are all shock dyno tested with certification, feature locking spring purchases, 6061 T6 aluminum components, and premium chrome silicone springs or upgraded custom Swift Springs.
