Every forum made on every car ever will tell you the key to long engine life is cooling. We start with full aluminum radiators, add oil coolers, and sometimes even power steering coolers! But seldom do you really hear people talk about fuel cooling. Well today we got you covered!

Why Fuel Coolers in Engine is Important? 

Fuel coolers have been the main ingredient for success with a lot of tuners and serious race teams, and while they won’t keep your water or oil temperatures down, they will definitely minimize detonation AKA knock.

For those of you who don’t understand knock, one cause of detonation is the accumulation of hot spots in the cylinder or rotor housing. Fuel cools these cylinders, but heat is added to the fuel inherently when upgrading fuel pumps, doing hot laps, or living in a place like Arizona.

How Does Fuel Coolers Work?

Fuel coolers sit between the pump and the fuel rails and route incoming fuel through a cooler before it reaches your combustion chamber resulting in lower temps, less knock, and more power. So make limiting boost and pulled timing a thing of the past opt for consistency with a fuel cooler!

What Is the Difference Between Cool Cans and Fuel Coolers?

Cool cans and fuel coolers serve a similar purpose of cooling the fuel, but they differ in their design and installation. Cool cans are compact, cylindrical containers that are typically installed between the fuel pump and carburetor. They utilize heat exchange technology to dissipate heat from the fuel. On the other hand, fuel coolers are inline devices that are installed in the fuel line itself. They incorporate various cooling mechanisms, such as heat exchangers or fans, to cool the fuel as it passes through the system. Both cool cans and fuel coolers can effectively reduce fuel temperature, but the specific choice depends on your vehicle’s setup and application requirements.
