Bringing the RB series to life in the early ’90s, Nissan had huge success with the platform. This was during the time Japanese safety regulations were strongly enforced towards performance vehicles. Nissan brought the RB26DETT to the market while this was happening, but how?

The RB26 was overbuilt and detuned to meet Japanese standards. Due to this clever tactic, owners were seeing incredible power gains and reliability after returning this engine for more boost. Being that the RB26 is becoming dated and most engines purchased, in or out of the vehicles, are thrashed.

Upon receiving any RB26 engine, it is common to pull the cylinder head off and check the condition of the internals. After all, most of these engines are 25 years old in most cases. It is never a bad idea to pull the head off and refresh all the gaskets and check the condition of the valvetrain.

HKS now offers an all-in-one head gasket kit for this particular situation. Removing the cylinder head consists of taking off the intake and exhaust manifold. When removing any of these components, it is important to clean the mating surfaces and replace the gaskets.

Included in the kit is a grommet type head gasket which significantly improves sealing capabilities. Being 1.6mm thick, the compression is lowered to 8:4 which provides reliability when turning up boost pressures. The grommet sealing technology prevents head gasket failure which has been a common issue with thick gaskets, until now!

Along with this kit are a full set of intake and exhaust gaskets. This ensures the job is done efficiently and the cylinder head sealed properly. This kit is ideal with the use of strengthened head bolts and machine polished mating surfaces.
