The FRS/86/BRZ has been one of the hottest tuner cars in the world since its release in 2012, with a surprising number of owners with at least one modification. As you go farther down the rabbit hole of adding power to the 86 platform there is supercharging, turbocharging, and engine swapping. GReddy, one of the biggest names in the aftermarket world, has just released an innovative product that can be used with a naturally aspirated or boosted FA20. Their new individual throttle body kit uses the stock throttle body as a way to actuate the individual throttle bodies without using the stock throttle body in the intake system. This is the easiest way to run an ITB setup on your FA20, to put it simply.
This kit includes cast aluminum intake manifolds for the left and right bank, as well as a cast aluminum intake plenum. The throttle bodies used in this kit are Genuine Toyota-Japan AE111 20V Individual Throttle Bodies with 48mm butterflies. Throttle Body Synchronizer and electronic A/F dongle for equalizing each cylinder are also included in the kit. As we mentioned above, the system utilizes the stock FA20 electronic single throttle body, through special linkages, to operate the ITBs, making installation as easy as possible. Unfortunately, not absolutely everything is included with the kit, so you will need to source some parts yourself such as the injectors and fuel rail.
The whole idea behind individual throttle bodies is improving throttle response and increasing power. Of course, GReddy has been thoroughly testing this new kit and they found gains in the mid-range torque where the FA20 really falls short. More importantly, GReddy found much better throttle response when testing their new kit, making the FA20 much more rev happy and allowing for greater throttle modulation when driving hard.

This product is a great addition to the FA20 platform as it increases throttle response and mid to top-end power output. Pricing is going to be $2,755 as it is the whole kit and no additional components are required to run this. It is compatible with the factory intakes, GReddy intakes, or even the GReddy turbo kits! Power output is all subjective based upon what other parts are installed.
