Although the JL Wrangler recently hit showroom floors and many aftermarket companies have shifted their focus to creating products for that platform, there are still lots of companies continuing to develop new products for the outgoing JK Wrangler. Everyone loves a fresh new lift kit or off-road bumpers because those are parts that will make your JK look cool. It’s important not to skip over the parts that will see lots of damage, such as the transmission cross member. The factory JK Wrangler cross member is made from thin metal and is very easy to destroy if you hit a big rock accidentally. Luckily, Hyline Offroad regocnizes this problem, and they have been developing a solution, which is now available!
Their new heavy duty cross member is made from 3/16” steel with a boxed construction, resulting in far stronger cross member compared to the OEM unit. Even with a thicker and stronger design, this cross member is designed to be a direct replacement, and it works with the factory hardware. To further increase strength, the entire cross member is welded, compared to some companies who stitch weld their cross members together. Giving this cross member a long lasting finish is a textured black powder coat.
