One of the problems with a typical cold air intake is the lack of proper box or heat shield. Without this, hot air from the engine bay will make it to the intake and increase intake air temperatures. This reduces efficiency and power. By designing a proper box for the filter to reside in eliminates this problem, and that’s exactly what Injen did with their Evolution intake.
