Introducing Two New Products for FK8 Civic Type R from HKS

When Honda released the new FK8 Civic Type R, enthusiasts in the US were ecstatic. It’s the first turbocharged Type R ever, and the fastest front wheel drive car ever. With that new turbocharged engine came an impressive 306 horsepower and 295 ft-lbs of torque. Although Honda did a fantastic job with the FK8 Type R, there is always room for improvement. There is a relatively minor, yet very annoying issue when modifying the suspension of the FK8 Type R, and that’s the adaptive dampening system. Once you swap the OEM suspension for aftermarket coilovers, a light will appear on the dash because the adaptive suspension is no longer talking to the ECU. Thanks to HKS, this issue can now be fixed easily with their new Suspension Error Canceller.

This suspension error canceller is designed specifically for the Civic FK8 Type R, and it doesn’t require any wiring modifications to install, plus removes the adaptive dampening system dash light, something many FK8 owners have been asking for.

Separate from the new suspension error canceller is the new oil cooler kit. A few other companies have already developed oil coolers which mount on the driver side near the fog light, but those kits are missing a way to direct air to the oil cooler properly. HKS fixed this by offering a unique air duct which directs air to the oil cooler for maximum efficiency. It is designed to go in an unused area of the left part of the front bumper. By mounting it in an unused location, airflow to the radiator and intercooler will not be negatively affected. Without this oil cooler, you run the risk of the oil reaching a temperature where it can begin to lose it’s lubricity and can no longer appropriately lubricate the engine.

If you have any questions about the HKS parts for Civic Type R FK8 or would like to purchase parts for your car, please do not hesitate to contact us. We can be reached by phone at 1.480.966.3040 or via email at [email protected].
