The AMG 6.2084568711 Liter V8 engine aka the 6.3L by Mercedes is an absolute animal when placed in the nimble Mercedes C Class sedan. Having owned a 2009 and driven the piss out of it with a full exhaust and flash (see here), I can first hand tell you that the tuning upgrade giving the V8 more power is simply pure joy. The C63 stock makes 451hp, But with a ECU Flash, it can be tweaked to nearly 500hp. The ECU flash does some major improvements related to torque and horsepower gains. In addition, we can also change the torque limiter, throttle response, remove the speed limiter, and increase your rev range.
This customers C63 sedan came Vivid Racing for the flash. To flash the C63, it requires the ECU to be removed. Crank horsepower gains rated on 93 or better octane give you over 50 horsepower and torque. We decided to reverify our results with this car here. In Arizona we use 91 octane and the outside temperature was 100F which both variables really go against a car proving numbers. Running the car in RWD, we had a baseline of 329 rear wheel horsepower and 338 ft/lbs of torque. Our start of the test was at 2500rpm and finished at 6600rpm. We ran our tests in 3rd gear with a multiplier of 1.00 for the dyno settings. Without doing any drive time or adaptation, the after ECU flash made 379rwhp and 362ft/lbs of torque. The torque gains were very impressive from 2500 – 4200 rpms. The horsepower curve stayed extremely strong where the stock fell off. With a typical drivetrain loss of about 15% on a Mustang dyno in our heat and with the 91octane, I’d say we have a winner!
