New Agency Power Intercoolers for Mercedes and Ford Applications

In case you didn’t already know, when you compress air, it heats up. You’ll notice this when you let air out of a tire, and the air coming out is much hotter than the ambient air. The whole point of a turbocharger is to force compressed air into your engine which allows for more fuel, and ultimately more power. There is one problem; however, hot air can cause detonation. For this reason, almost all turbocharged vehicles use an intercooler. Unfortunately, many OEM intercoolers aren’t that good and leave you with very high charge air temperatures, especially once you’re in boost for an extended period. Luckily, companies like Agency Power, offer intercoolers which are much larger and more efficient than the stock unit, resulting in lower and more consistent charge air temperatures.

Both Mercedes and Ford use relatively small turbochargers on their performance vehicles. Although small turbochargers provide excellent throttle response, something we all love, they create very high charge air temperatures. Agency Power took on this problem by developing an intercooler for the A250/CLA250/GLA250 and Focus RS. Although these platforms are completely different, the general effect is the same: much lower and more consistent charge air temperatures, plus less chance of heat soak. This means the ability to make more power and your engine will be much happier. Both of these intercoolers are designed as a factory replacement and do not require any extra modification to be fitted to the vehicle.
