When it comes to exhaust systems, many enthusiasts install a cat-back exhaust, leaving everything before the cat in stock form. While you will find gains with a catback exhaust, the restrictions before the catalytic converter can have a significant impact on power, especially for turbocharged vehicles. For Mini and BMW vehicles with BMW’s B46 engine, Evolution Racewerks now offers a 4” downpipe!
This new downpipe uses a massive 4” diameter right off the turbo before it necks down to a 3” diameter. With the increased diameter, it greatly improves exhaust flow, allowing the turbocharger to spin faster and spool up quicker. They construct the entire downpipe from 304 stainless steel, and TIG welded throughout. The flex pipe allows for movement which reduces the chances of cracking or breaking. For those who want the most performance possible, the optional ceramic coating helps retain heat which further improves exhaust gas velocity and reduces heat soak on other engine components.
