The Toyota Tacoma is far from a performance vehicle in the traditional sense; however, it’s one of the most popular off-road vehicles in the world. For general off-roading, you don’t need to go fast, and the stock power level might feel fine. Once you install some heavy duty bumpers, lift kit, and bigger tires, the 3.5L under the good of 2016+ Tacomas starts to feel underpowered. Luckily, getting more power from that 3.5L is pretty easy. Injen, one of the biggest intake manufacturers in the world, has recently announced their all-new Roto-Molded intake for the 2016 – 2018 Tacoma!
By getting more air into the engine, more fuel can be added, and a larger combustion occurs. Hot air is less dense than cold air, so keeping the hot engine-bay air away from the intake is key to good power gains. By using a high-flow filter, a proper air box, and a fully Roto-Molded construction, this new Injen intake adds up 17 horsepower and 15 lb-ft to the 2016+ Tacoma! Not only is there an increase in power, but the improved filtration means fewer particulates enter the engine which will improve engine lifespan!
