Although Honda killed off the S2000 in 2009, it’s one of the most popular cars you’ll find at any track day. It’s lightweight and has a very balanced chassis with enough power to have tons of fun. The stock brakes can only take so much heat before they fail. Once your brakes reach their maximum heat, your brake pedal will go to the floor which is dangerous. Wilwood is a leader in the big-brake market, and they’ve just released their new Forged Superlite big-brake kit for the S2000.
The idea of a big brake kit is to increase the surface area of the pad/rotor contact area to spread the heat. With larger pads, you can also run a more aggressive compound to decrease braking distance. This new Wilwood kit uses a 12.88” two-piece rotor with directional vanes to improve cooling. The two-piece design of the rotor makes it lighter and stronger than the OEM rotor too. The pistons inside the Wilwood calipers are designed to withstand massive amounts of heat without failing, meaning you drive harder for longer.
Unlike some big brake kits on the market, you will retain all ABS controls with the Wilwood kit. They design the whole package to bolt-on with no custom work needed. The kit includes everything you need for the install including DOT approved stainless steel lines.
