In the world of aftermarket automotive wheels, Volk Racing is one of the biggest names around. They’re best known for producing simple, elegant, and incredibly strong wheels. Volk Racing offers their wheels in a wide range of different fitments, many of which fit the A90 Supra, however, they weren’t specifically designed for the A90.
Moving forward, Volk Racing is changing that with new fitments specifically for the A90. Some wheels are available in multiple fitments, depending how aggressive you want your wheel setup. Some fitments will require fender rolling and possibly a slight increase in camber to fit properly, and some other fitments will easily fit under your stock fenders with no issues.
What separates Volk Racing wheels from nearly all other aftermarket wheel companies is how they construct their wheels.
The majority of aftermarket wheels are cast, which is the cheapest and easiest way to construct a wheel, but it’s relatively weak. Many high-end wheels use a forged construction which is more expensive than casting, but also much stronger. Rays/Volk Racing takes this a step further by mold-form forging their wheels.
The Mold-Form process is different, in that the shape of the wheel is creating during the forging process. By creating the shape of the wheel during the forging process, the grain of the metal flows with the shape of the wheel, resulting in much greater strength. After they make the rough forging, a massive machine applies upwards of 10,000 tons of force to the inner and outer rim to create the desired shape.
