Are you looking to upgrade the suspension on your vehicle? When it comes to suspension components, there are a ton of different options available. Most people who are looking to do their first suspension upgrade, do not necessarily need everything that is offered with a top of the line suspension kit. A majority of daily driven street cars can achieve a better handling suspension with a more basic kit.
For a mild drop and increased performance, a cup kit will probably suite your needs. This includes lowering springs which are paired with a properly valved set of shocks/dampers. This will give you a nice comfortable drop that can be used for daily driving. For even more control over adjustments, some people will decide on a coilover system. Generally these kits have adjustable ride height and can also offer more fine tuning of dampening and rebound. Also they allow for corner balancing and different spring rates. This is critical if your vehicle will see any track time or road course use. For those who want to have ride height adjustment on the fly, an air ride set up has the best of both worlds. You can make ride height adjustments by adjusting how much air you put into each air bag. This means you can have a safe ride height level while driving, but will also allow your car to be low while parked. These systems are generally more technical due to running compressors, tanks and air lines.
Once you have decided on the type of lowering you are going to do, you may need additional components to get your geometry within spec. Generally a lower center of gravity improves handling and body roll, but the wheel alignment is also a very important factor for handling. Often you will need to change out eccentric bolts / control arms / camber plates because the factory components will not allow to compensate for the lowered ride height.
