Our customer Nick likes to get out and rip around in his Porsche 964 Cabriolet on the Autocross course. So to get the C4 more nimble like a C2, he added a set of KW V3 coilovers. Previously he had a set of Bilstein shocks with H&R springs and this was a “tremendous improvement over those”. The KW is our choice of suspension and especially with Porsche here at Vivid Racing. Having used them on several of our Project Cars, we know there is nothing else to compare to. “I only managed to get in two autocross events this summer but there is an enormous improvement over the previous Bilstein HD + H&R spring setup. The C4 now handles much more like a C2 with greatly enhanced throttle steer on an otherwise fairly stock suspension. At the lightest shock settings, it’s plenty comfortable on the street. I haven’t ventured more than about 70% stiff for events, and even then it will jostle your kidneys. Additionally, the RS version of the kit is the only version that will allow for RS ride height when using monoball top mounts, which add about 1″ to the overall ride height. It took some time to piece together, but the RS uses a shorter body shock and strut to maintain piston travel when combining RS ride height and the additional monoball height. This also means that you would be much too low, an inch below RS height, if you didn’t use monoball mounts with this kit.
