Custom Vivid Exclusive – NR Auto and APR Extended GT3 Wing On A Porsche 991 Turbo
Recently we had a customer who wanted to install a new rear wing set up on his Porsche 991 Turbo. There are quite a few options available for this task, but it all depends on how you want the final result to look. The owner of this vehicle originally opted for another brand, but wait times and availability were not in the time frame he wanted this completed. So we decided to look at options that would fulfill a large GT3 Style wing on the standard 991 platform.
In order to do an legit OEM porsche GT3 wing there are a ton of parts that get thrown into the mix. First off, the only way to get these parts is from a certified Porsche distributor who can get the factory GT3 deck lid. Second it is not as simple as a swap as one thinks. There are mounting clips and brackets (about 15 parts in total) that need to be changed. The Factory air box is positioned differently in the standard models so there is modification to that area as well as the fans for cooling. Finally once you have all of the parts sourced, you are looking at a 15k price tag along with installation and paint.
A simple solution to this is a NR auto GT3 Deck lid. This part is a direct swap on the standard non GT3 models and saves you the headache of having to do more than what is necessary. Now that you have a GT3 Style trunklid, you can choose to go with NR autos wing blade to complete the standard GT3 look, or an aftermarket replacement. Instead of doing the normal GT3 style, this customer opted for a GTC wing from APR. This APR part is originally intended for the GT3 deck lid, but since we swapped over to the NR auto deck lid, it fit together perfectly. This adds a carbon fiber element to the package and finishes off the aggressive look the customer was going for. There are other options possible, but we were very pleased with the outcome of this combination. Not only does it look aggressive and add downforce to the vehicle, the cost is less than HALF of what an OEM set up would be. NR Auto and APR both create very quality aftermarket parts so fitment and finish was not a problem. We always want to use the best products possible for our customers and these two companies have shown they deserve to be on a P-Car.
