With all of this power and a turbo engine, it’s no surprise that the TLX is very susceptible to heat-soak, especially with the stock intercooler setup. Excessive heat-soak is detrimental as it increases the chance of detonation and causes significant power loss due to high charge air temps and cylinder temps too. PRL already announced its new intercooler upgrade for the TLX Type-S, and now the brand is pleased to introduce its new intercooler charge pipe upgrade for the car. The PRL Motorsports charge pipe upgrade kit utilizes a smooth flowing, larger diameter (3.00″ OD compared to the factory ~2.40″ ID hose) cold-side for increased airflow and factory diameter hot-side outlet to aid in the turbocharger spool. The PRL charge pipe upgrade kit features 4-ply silicone couplers throughout its design for a number of reasons. First, they help with heat-soak reduction because the silicone hoses offer extremely low thermal heat transfer properties, especially when compared to steel or aluminum variants. The high-temp silicone hoses also handle the high temperature of the turbocharger much better than the Acura TLX’s factory rubber ones. In fact, the rubber hoses from the factory are known to experience expansion, which worsens as the boost is increased. As time goes by, the rubber construct weakens and increases the likelihood of a boost leak occurring. PRL’s custom-molded silicone used in this charge pipe upgrade has also allowed them to offer much higher flowing bends than any metal tubing could’ve offered. This kit also comes with all the necessary parts for a seamless installation process and precise fitment on all 2021+ Acura TLX Type-S 3.0T models.
