Since we picked up Project TRD back in 2017, we’ve been having a lot of fun with it. It’s been on multiple road trips, had tons of modifications done to it, and lots of street time. With the added power from the Magnuson supercharger, bigger brakes from WP Pro, and awesome wheels from Volk Racing, it looks great and stomps unsuspecting sports cars on the street. One area where Toyota dropped the ball on the Tundra is the interior. It’s not the worst place to be, but it could use some love from the aftermarket. The steering wheel is one of the worst, most boring parts of the interior, we developed a solution for our Tundra, and now we’re offering that solution to everyone.
Realistically, the wheel isn’t THAT bad, but when you compare it to other brand new trucks or modern sports cars, you realize how boring it is. What we do is take the wheel and send it off to a company which changes the shape of the grip, materials, color of the stitching, and more, to make the wheel look and wheel much better. Up top is a stripe which helps you quickly locate which side of the wheel is the top, which might sound like a weird feature but when you’re driving hard in the dirt, sometimes you can lose orientation of the wheel and the stripe helps you find it quicker. By changing the materials, you can change how well the wheel breaths on your hand, plus the more ergonomic shape makes it much more comfortable to hold over long periods of time.
Best of all, this is a very affordable modification. You tell us what color leather, 12 O-Clock ring, stitching, material, and shape you want, and we get to work. Once you receive your awesome new wheel, you send us your old one for the core charge. It’s an easy and simple process with lots of possible combinations to make your new steering wheel truly unique.
